Ways to Give

Make a difference in the life of a patient today!

Everyone deserves healthcare. Champions for Health is dedicated to providing access to critically needed healthcare for uninsured, low-income residents of San Diego County who would otherwise face insurmountable barriers to care. But we can’t do this important work without your support. And your donation is tax deductible. Here is Champions for Health Tax ID number: 95-2568714.

There are so many ways to help people in need, choose the way that works best for you.

Popular Ways to Give

Make a Donation

When you give to Champions for Health, your gift is multiplied. You’ll have the joy of knowing that every $1 you give is helping Champions for Health secure more than $10 in pro bono assistance through our Project Access San Diego program equaling a 1000% return on your donation.

Become a Monthly Donor

You can help patients every month of the year with ongoing gifts to Champions for Health. By joining our monthly giving program, you’re standing up for our vital mission to connect San Diegans with specialty and preventive healthcare and showing your consistent, ongoing support for people in need. You can choose your monthly amount. Every dollar helps Champions for Health’s unique medical service make crucial lifesaving interventions.

When you donate, you contribute to the health and well-being of thousands of individuals in San Diego:

Give a Gift

Honor Someone Special

Recognize someone special while supporting Champions for Health’s work. Your gift is an affirmation of our shared commitment to providing healthcare to patients who are ineligible for public services so that people most in need might receive the gift of hope and life.

Individual Sponsorship

Help support one of our Project Access San Diego patients directly. Your support can provide annual medical costs to support a Project Access patient including medical interpretation, transportation to doctor visits, medications, medical equipment, and more.

Fundraise for Healthcare

Donate Your Birthday or Special Occasion

Celebrate a special event — such as a birthday, wedding, or anniversary —while supporting Champions for Health’s work to help patients who are ineligible for public services.

In lieu of receiving gifts for personal life events, like a birthday, or wedding you can designate Champions for Health as a charity to support with a QR code or link to www.championsfh.org/donate

People fundraise in different ways and for different reasons. Some organize an event like a softball game, bake sale, or car wash. Or maybe they want to celebrate a personal goal like running a marathon or losing weight. Whichever way you decide to fundraise, feel confident that your friends, family, and community will support your efforts.

Workplace Giving and Matching Gifts

Workplace Giving

Many employers offer payroll deduction programs that may allow you to make gifts to Champions for Health. Your tax-deductible gifts will support Champion for Health’s work with uninsured very low income San Diegans. Workplace giving is easy, safe, and cost-efficient. Through payroll deduction, you can have your employer deduct a specific amount of money from your paycheck each pay period to support Champions for Health.

Matching Gifts

Double or triple your gift to Champion for Health. Many employers will match donations to charitable organizations like Champions for Health. Gifts made by current employees, employees’ spouses, and even retirees may be eligible for matching support. Contact your employer’s human resources department to see if they have a matching gift program.

Investment Giving

Stocks and Securities

Stocks and securities can be transferred or given to Champions for Health. Gifts of stock may provide a double tax benefit: an income-tax deduction for the property’s full fair-market value and the stock’s appreciation may help you avoid capital gains taxes. Gifts of stock can also be made to Champions for Health, but they are not tax-deductible. ">Contact Adama Dyoniziak to start the process.

Plan Your Legacy

You can leave a legacy of hope and further your impact in the lives of thousands of people by including Champions for Health in your will, living trust, or other estate plan. You can arrange a gift of a specific amount, a percentage, or even all or part of the residual of your estate. No matter your age, there’s no better time than now to make provisions for patients who need preventive and specialty care. ">Contact Adama Dyoniziak to start the conversation.

Donor Advised Funds

Consider a gift to Champions for Health through your donor-advised fund or family foundation.

You may also wish to name Champions for Health an organizational beneficiary of your donor-advised fund (Tax ID number: 95-2568714).

Charitible Donaitons from IRAs

Congress has made the direct charitable distribution of IRA funds a permanent provision, so many Champions for Health supporters are making this part of their annual giving plan. Individuals 70 ½ years or older may contribute up to $100,000 to qualified charities such as Champions for Health.

To take advantage of this provision, a check must be sent from the IRA directly to Champions for Health. You do not declare this withdrawal as income on your tax return, nor does it qualify for a charitable tax deduction. Thus this type of gift may be helpful to non-itemizers. A qualified charitable distribution, though, can satisfy part or all of the required minimum withdrawal from an IRA.

Philanthropy

Individual Philanthropy

By supporting Champions for Health as a major donor, together with other generous individual, corporate and foundation partners, you put these ambitious goals well within reach.

We invite you to join us in our shared mission to do whatever it takes to answer the health equity gap in San Diego.

Foundations

Many foundations partner with Champions for Health to fulfill their individual missions and help us achieve positive outcomes for health equity.

Champions for Health welcomes unrestricted support, endowment gifts and funding for specific projects. We honor the unique preferences and philanthropic goals of each of our foundation partners.
