Flu vaccinations offered in San Diego County
Champions for Health is offering free influenza immunizations to targeted communities, in partnership with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services and United Healthcare. These efforts are part of our ongoing programs that provide preventative and specialty medical care to underinsured and uninsured populations in the San Diego region. In 2019, we provided residents with 3,063 free flu vaccinations.
Why get a flu vaccine?
Influenza is a leading cause of death for individuals with other prolonged diseases and illnesses. Immunizations are crucial in order to protect yourself, your loved ones, and those around you.
According to the CDC, during the 2020-2021 influenza season, getting a flu immunization is more important than ever to protect yourself, your loved ones, your community, and the global community from flu. Flu vaccinations are part of a comprehensive public health strategy to reduce the burden of influenza but also to preserve scarce health care resources for the care of patients with COVID-19.
Who is eligible?
- Everyone qualifies (4 years and up & pregnant women) to receive a flu shot (uninsured people are encouraged to attend).
- We provide proof of vaccination, enter record into the San Diego Immunization Registry (SDIR), and let your primary care provider know you received a flu shot.
- Mask required.
